The oldest known occupant of our newly converted building was the Flynn and Emrich Machine Works, which operated there from 1890 until 1912 when the building was taken over by the Maryland Meter Works. By 1942, the building housed a realty firm, printing company, engineering firm and the Breco Manufacturing Company.

Ten years later, the site became known as the Breco Building, although the name continued to be changed to reflect new ownerships. Recently, the building was home to the Smith Printing Company which donated the letterpress printing machine shown here for display in our lobby. It was inherited from a previous printer and is thought to be over three-quarters of a century old.
